What is a Bike Bus?

Bike Bus is a global movement. In a growing number of cities and towns around the world it is a regular mode of transportation to safely and joyfully bike with kids to school. Think of a bike bus like a school bus, but instead of a big yellow vehicle, we’re a large group of people—kids, parents, and helpers—biking to school along a fixed route and schedule. School buses run on gas; bike buses run on joy.

Our Primary Route

(used when 4 or more volunteers are available and weather permits)

This is our main route that starts at the Denver Sand Park (24th Ave &, Spruce Way), follows the Greenway Trail to a pickup at the Central Park Skatepark (9021 E 26th Ave). We take the road at E 25th Dr and Akron St heading east and turn south onto Akron Ct. We continue on Akron Ct until it becomes Akron Way. We then turn left onto Bill Roberts property at the main entrance.

Our Secondary Route

(used when 3 or fewer volunteers are available or weather requires)

This is our backup route that starts at the Denver Sand Park (24th Ave &, Spruce Way), follows the Greenway Trail to a pickup at the Central Park Skatepark (9021 E 26th Ave). We continue on the Greenway until we turn south on Westerly Creek Trail. We then turn right onto the sidewalk north of Bill Roberts and walk our bikes to the main entrance.

A happy bike bus is a safe bike bus. This comes with expenses like, vests, walkie talkies, tubes, tools, locks, signs, and snacks. Help us to make this program more accessible and more successful for all our students.
